Ukulele for Guitar Players
String Muting
Thumb Muting
Thumb muting is where you stop the strings using the thumb of your playing hand. String ring out stops completely, usually for a split second between beats
In my lessons I refer to this as a choked downstroke.
It works in all styles and with all chords, but is always played as a follow-through on a downstroke. Twist your wrist and briefly rest your thumb across all strings before you play the next upstroke with your index finger.
