Ukulele for Guitar Players
String Muting
Pressure Muting
The most common form of muting to emphasise beat. The strings are muted by lifting pressure off the strings with your chord hand in time with the beat.
Illustrated here in a clip from Sweet Caroline
Most suited to chords where at least 3 strings are fingered, but beware of open strings. When you lift the pressure, open strings continue to ring out. Not an issue if the duration between beats is very short.
