Ukulele for Guitar Players
Playing Hand Shapes
"The Hook"
Named "The Hook" due to the distinctive hook-like shape of your index finger. When forming the shape, you turn your wrist and index finger inward so that you strike the strings with your fingernail.
Your nail is a hard surface so the technique generates a crisp, bright sound — similar to a guitar pick.

This technique is often combined with Palm Muting when playing tight, guitar-style chops in time with the beat.
